More new tenants for The Rocks
UGG Australian Made since 1974 commenced trading at 140 George Street this week and Style Master in The Rocks at 139 George Street is expected to commence trading later this month.

Welcome to our newest tenants!

The leasing team is also in the final stages of negotiating new leases at:

  • 105 George Street
  • 127-129 George Street
  • Shop 13, The Rocks Centre
  • Science House, 157-161 Gloucester Street.

Annual report now available to download2010-11 Annual Report
Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority takes pride in its achievements and the benefits delivered to all stakeholders and you can read about them in our 2010-11 Annual Report.

Some of the Authority's performance highlights included:

  • securing the future of Sydney's convention, entertainment and exhibition facilities with the announcement of the new Sydney International Convention, Exhibition and Entertainment Precinct project
  • completing the second stage of community consultation for the Bays Precinct
  • completing a program to prepare Conservation Management Plans for all heritage-listed assets
  • investing $12.2 million on managing and conserving heritage and public spaces
  • generating $46.4 million in lease revenue in The Rocks, Darling Harbour and surrounds
  • welcoming 110,771 people to The Rocks Discovery Museum-the highest visitation yet
  • producing events in The Rocks and Darling Harbour attended by 1.52 million people
  • supporting more than 30 major public events and community festivals in The Rocks and Darling Harbour.

Rubbish removal initiative
Two large rubbish skips will be placed in Playfair Street, behind Old Sydney Holiday Inn and Gloucester Street, behind Sydney YHA from 9 am to 4 pm on Monday 12 December and Tuesday 13 December. The bins are available for all tenants to dispose of general rubbish items, including furniture and other large items, for free.

Please note, the following items are not permitted in the bins:

  • Chemicals
  • Oils
  • Paints
  • Vehicle parts, tyres and batteries
  • Asbestos

The Rocks Markets Christmas tradingMarkets
The markets will be operating to a diffrent schedule over the festive season, as follows: 

  • Friday 23 December - Foodies Market in Jack Mundey Place from 10 am to 4 pm
  • Saturday 24 December (Christmas Eve) - The Rocks Market trading on George Street from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Sunday 25 December (Christmas Day) - CLOSED
  • Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 December - The Rocks Market trading on George Street from 10 am to 5 pm
  • Friday 30 December, Saturday 31 December and Sunday 1 January - CLOSED

New in-room video on The Rocks
The Authority is releasing the next video for Guest TV in hotel rooms across the city in the coming week. The latest edition focuses on the retail offerings across the precinct and will run in conjunction with 'A day out in The Rocks'.

Guest TV operates in around 10,000 hotels in 25 of Sydney's top hotels.

Christmas decorationsRocks Christmas Tree 2011
The precinct is looking very festive with all the Christmas decorations covering the laneways and buildings. If you notice any damage or other issues with the decorations, please report it CRMS on 1300 655 995 or call Vanessa Campbell on 9240 8747.

Decorations will be removed on the evening of Tuesday 27 December.

The Rocks visitation
In October 2011, people movements in the precinct were 1,126,565, an increase of 3.2 per cent when compared to October 2010. The 12-month rolling people movements to The Rocks from November 2010 to October 2011 were 13,782,795, a slight increase of 0.5 per cent.

The next newsletter will be distributed on Thursday 22 December and will include important event information for New Year's Eve and Australia Day. The February issue will be distributed as normal at the beginning of the month.

SUSTAINABILITY NEWS

The Authority joins the Better Buildings Partnership
The Authority has joined a collaboration of some of Sydney's largest commercial and public sector landlords in Sydney. The Better Buildings Partnership¾an initiative of the City of Sydney¾works on projects to improve the sustainability performance of commercial and public sector buildings across the council area. Members include some of Australia largest property groups as well as the Property Council of Australia and the Green Building Council of Australia. A leadership panel of member representatives will collaborate to set an annual work program, addressing those issues considered most important to improving the environmental efficiency of existing buildings. EVENT NEWS

Pop-Up supports fashion powerhouse
The Rocks Pop-Up Project is supporting the not-for-profit organisation Fashion Group International. The group will be presenting their latest Spring/Summer collections¾direct from the runways of Paris, Milan and New York¾at 47 George Street, The Rocks on Monday 5 December.

With more than 50 years of industry experience, world-renowned fashion journalist Marylou Luther brings her creative direction to The Rocks through a presentation of the European and USA collections.

The Fashion Group International was formed in 1930 by a group of the most powerful women in America, including Elizabeth Arden and Eleanor Roosevelt. They were committed to developing an organisation that offered professionals working in fashion and related industries a networking hub that fostered the professional development of individuals who chose fashion as a career. 

Please join us from 6 pm on Monday 5 December 2011 for what promises to be an insightful and extraordinary trend overview from the world's best runways. Tickets are $38 (FGI members and students) and $55 (non-members). Ticket includes canapés and drinks.

The trend overview is followed by a panel discussion from some of the industry's new and up-and-coming designers and established business leaders.

PRECINCT NEWS

New taxi rank for precinct
A new taxi rank is now operating on Harrington Street near Suez Canal. The rank will be used after 6 pm each night when the loading zone is not in operation. Please be aware that fines apply for vehicles other than taxis found using this area after 6 pm.

Ausgrid works complete
Ausgrid have now completed their repair works to the footpath on George Street between Globe and Argyle streets. Thanks to all surrounding tenants for your patience.

Sydney Harbour Bridge closures
NSW Roads and Maritime Services are undertaking maintenance works on the harbour bridge on weekends during January. The bridge will be closed from 10 pm Fridays to 5 am Mondays, each weekend in January.
